THE QUALVIS
LEGACY

Present Day

Introducing Lisa and Marcus

A sister and brother duo leading the way in Qualvis’ mission to deliver quality and service. Second generation owners with a drive to not just remember where the company started but to strive towards where they want it to go. Widely recognised as one of the best carton suppliers for innovation, problem solving and environmental solutions in the industry but where did this all begin…

1950s

DAVID SHORT THE BEGINNING

David began his career as a professional footballer at 17 years of age. Although a boyhood dream his father thought it would be wise to have a ‘proper’ trade to fall back on, so in that same year he signed on at printing college. The following years saw David play professional football whilst learning the art of printing. Later in the decade football saw David travel to America, Canada and Australia as a semi-professional alongside working as a typographer.

1960s

DAVID’S NEW CALLING

Upon arriving back in the UK, one of David’s trades started to forge ahead (not football thankfully for us) and he started working in managerial roles up and down the country.

1970s

DAVID SHORT MEETS BOB LONSDALE

The duo first met in the 70s through the print industry. Bob had set up Qualvis Litho and was operating as a trade printer. David worked as manager for a large packaging company in the West Midlands. They regularly worked together on projects and started building up a great relationship.

THE REST IS HISTORY

David, unhappy with where his career was taking him and wanting to put down some roots began talking with Bob. A joint desire to offer the full package, their combined knowledge and a shared company ethos saw a new business venture forming. Qualvis Print and Packaging was born.

1990s

THE DREAM WAS ACHIEVED

During the 90s the industry was booming and Qualvis went from strength to strength, investing in the latest machinery, technologies and working with top brands and all the major retailers.

OVER TO THE SHORTS

The following decades saw a lot of change. The retirement of Bob, full ownership by the Short family and further investments in site, machinery and technology. A time to hone the company craft and focus on the founders’ ethos.

PUPPY LOVE

We welcomed our youngest, smallest and by far the cutest company ‘employee’ office dog Reggie; main responsibilities include (but are not limited to) greeting employees when they walk through the door, regularly checking on staff members in the office and patrolling the corridor.
